Are You Ready For The Changes?

Smoke Alarm Compliancy In Rental Properties change 1 January 2022, are you ready?

Smoke Alarms may not be the most exciting topic when your talking about rental properties, but it’s definitely one of the most important.

From 1 January 2022 all domestic properties that are rented must comply with the new standards.

To comply with legislation, interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms are required to be installed.

  1. Smoke alarms must be installed in every

bedroom and in every hallway outside

    all bedrooms.

  2. All smoke alarms must be interconnected –

either by being wired together, connected

using wireless technology, or a mixture of

    these two methods.

  3. All levels of all homes must have a smoke

alarm. If no bedrooms are on a level

the alarm should be installed on the most

likely exit path from that level.

  4. All alarms must be either hard wired to the

electricity supply or have a non-replacable

    10-year lifespan battery.
